Ruby the red umbrella stood proudly on a rainy city street. She loved helping everyone who walked by. When the rain poured down, she opened wide to keep people dry. Ruby was bright and cheerful, even on the gloomiest days.
One rainy afternoon, a little girl named Mia stepped outside. She had forgotten her own umbrella! Mia looked up at the dark clouds and frowned. The rain started to fall heavy and hard. She tried to run, but the puddles splashed everywhere, soaking her shoes.
Ruby saw Mia from her spot on the sidewalk. "Oh no!" thought Ruby. "I must help her!" With a big whoosh, Ruby opened up very wide. She waved her edges, calling out to Mia, “Come under here! I can help you!”
Mia looked around and then spotted Ruby shining bright like a little beacon. She ran towards Ruby, laughing as she jumped over the biggest puddles. When she reached Ruby, Mia hugged her tight. “Thank you, Ruby!” she exclaimed. Together, they danced down the street, splashing in the rain, but staying dry underneath Ruby’s big red canopy.
As they walked, they saw other people caught in the rain. A man with a big bag looked worried. A lady with a little puppy shivered in the cold. Ruby remembered her special power. "Let's help them too!" she said with excitement.
Mia smiled wide. “Of course!” She held Ruby high so everyone could see. One by one, the people rushed under Ruby. They all felt safe and warm together. Mia and Ruby had turned a rainy day into a sunny adventure!
At the end of the street, the rain stopped. The sun peeked out, creating a beautiful rainbow. Mia giggled, “We did it, Ruby! Thanks to you, everyone is happy today!” Ruby puffed up with pride. She had made the day brighter by helping many friends. And that was what Ruby loved most of all.
